When to call us

Storm hit your van? Awning collapsed? Mechanism jammed?

Awnings are one of the most common emergency repairs in caravanning β€” and one of the most stressful. They fail under load, in wind, in rain, and almost always at a campsite far from your usual repairer. Even if you make it home, traditional caravan workshops often have 3-6 week waits for awning work.

We carry common awning components in our service vehicles and can replace, repair or temporarily secure most makes and models onsite. If your awning needs a full replacement, we can usually source and fit it within a few days β€” not weeks.

  • Storm damage

What we cover

Every awning brand.
Every kind of damage.

Full awning replacement

Complete unit replacement when the existing awning is beyond economical repair. All major brands available β€” Dometic, Carefree, Fiamma, Thule, Aussie Traveller and more.

Storm damage repair

The most common emergency. Wind-damaged arms, torn fabric, bent rails. We assess what's salvageable and quote the fastest repair path β€” often a mix of new parts and existing components.

Mechanism repair

Jammed arms, broken springs, faulty motors on electric awnings. We can repair most mechanism failures onsite without full replacement.

Fabric replacement

UV-damaged, torn, or mouldy fabric replaced with new. Hardware kept, fabric refreshed β€” significantly cheaper than full unit replacement.

Upgrades & retrofits

Manual to electric upgrade, anti-flap kits, weather guards, light strips, side walls. Make your existing awning more capable.

Insurance claim work

Storm or accident damage covered by your insurance? We do the assessment, quote, and repair. Most insurers pay us direct β€” you just pay the excess.

Common questions

Awning emergencies,
explained.

First β€” get clear of it if it's still moving in the wind. Don't try to retract a damaged awning, it'll often make things worse. Call us straight away on 1300 4 RV NOW with your location. We'll either talk you through securing it temporarily, or dispatch as fast as we can. Take photos before you touch anything if it's safe to do so.
Most caravan comprehensive insurance policies cover storm and accident damage to awnings. We can do the assessment and quote in a format your insurer will accept, deal directly with the insurer if you authorise us, and apply for the work to be paid direct. You'd typically just pay your excess.
Within Adelaide metro, most emergency callouts are dispatched within 2 hours during business hours (Mon-Fri 7:30am-7pm, Sat 8am-5pm, Sun 10am-5pm). Outside those hours we run a phone triage and can usually still get someone out same-day or first thing the following morning. Outside the metro, response time depends on distance β€” we'll be straight with you on the call.
All major caravan awning brands β€” Dometic, Carefree of Colorado, Fiamma, Thule, Aussie Traveller, Roadstar, and most others. If you've got a less common or older awning, send us a photo and we'll tell you upfront whether we can source parts.
About 80% of awning emergencies we attend get fully resolved onsite. The remaining 20% β€” where we need to source a specific part, or where the damage is too extensive β€” we'll secure the van so you can travel safely, then book a follow-up visit when parts are in. We'll never leave you stranded.
Honest answer depends on the damage. If it's a minor mechanism failure or a single fabric tear, repair is usually worth it even on older units. If multiple components are failing or the fabric is sun-rotted, you're often better off replacing. We'll always give you both options with prices so you can decide.
